Charity seeks the services of Russian chef

Vision for Vasilivichi — the Bausch & Lomb employee charity — has issued the call for the period of June 29 to July 21 when it hosts a summer camp for 26 children who will travel to Ireland with their teachers and interpreters.

The plan is to give the children a fun-filled three weeks of fresh air and activities.

Among the 26 children travelling to Waterford from the institution, 11 have no sight while others are partially sighted.

However, according to Vision for Vasilivichi, they are all “eagerly looking forward to what they regard as a trip of a lifetime”.

During their visit to these parts, the children will receive treatment from an optician and a dentist as well as choosing new clothes and shoes which they will bring home with them.

Other activities planned for the three-week stint include trips to the Dunmore East Adventure Centre, Dublin Zoo, Waterford Institute of Technology, as well as horse riding, trips to the beach and picnics.

The young tourists will also enjoy a night of pampering which a group of local beauticians and hairdressers have undertaken to provide free of charge.

Charity organisers now want a qualified chef, who has experience in cooking Russian food, to prepare lunch and evening meals for the entire group of 32 people, for about three days a week during the three-week holiday. The move is being made to ensure that the children don’t experience too much of a “culture shock” during their Waterford visit.

Any interested candidates should contact Vision for Vasivilichi PRO Suzanne Caulfield at Bausch & Lomb on 051 859499.
