Hospital transport services ‘cause distress’ for elderly

THE grandson of legendary trade unionist and patriot James Connolly yesterday lashed health services at an annual meeting for senior citizens.

Speaking at the Irish Senior Citizens’ Parliament AGM, Ross Connolly said inadequate transport services for hospital appointments cause additional distress for older people who are sick adn vulnerable.

The SIPTU national secretary for retired members said patients were having to wait up to seven hours to be brought home after difficult treatments.
