€8m health and education block opens at Limerick Prison

JUSTICE Minister Brian Lenihan yesterday opened an €8 million health and education block at Limerick Prison.

The development is the third phase of a huge rebuilding programme to modernise the oldest working prison in the State.

The construction of two new wings ensures the provision of 175 cells in the male section and a further 20 in the female section, which all have in-cell sanitation facilities.
