IMMIGRANTS and well-heeled Dublin 4 types are partly responsible for young couples not getting on the housing ladder in west Cork, it has been claimed.

A Fianna Fáil county councillor has claimed that immigrants are getting “a bit too much favouritism” on local authority housing lists compared to locals.

“I know we have a commitment to house immigrants, but being local and on the waiting list should stand for something,” said Cllr Joe Carroll.
