AN ADVANCED landing system used in the world’s biggest airports is to be tested at Cork Airport to help slash diversion rates.

Aer Lingus is preparing to modify the flight management systems on board its A320 and A321 aircraft that land at Cork so they can test the category 111 instrument landing system.

Ryanair, BMI, and most charter flights out of Cork could use the system while Aer Arann’s ART aircraft are not equipped to use it.
