Children must be saved from crime, warns city revamp chief

CHILDREN living in Limerick’s toughest estates will get sucked into vicious cycles of violence and crime unless they receive help under the city’s regeneration scheme, warned its chief architect yesterday.

There is an urgency to save the next generation growing up in areas like Moyross and Southill from a life of criminality, John Fitzgerald told gardaí at the AGSI conference.

Youngsters under seven years of age needed help before they ended up inside the justice system, the former Dublin city manager stressed.
