Hike in motorists who admit speeding

THE Road Safety Authority (RSA) is concerned at the results of a survey that shows more drivers are speeding on Ireland’s main roads than ever before.

Hike in motorists who admit speeding

One in five cars on motorways travel in excess of the 120km/h speed limit, while 27% of drivers using national primary routes break the 100km/h limit, according to the latest “free speed” survey published by the RSA.

It also reveals that 47% of drivers ignore the 50km/h limit in residential areas where there is an increased risk to pedestrians — up from 20% in 2005.
