A MOTHER who lost her 16-year-old son to suicide six years ago has called for the friends and classmates of suicide victims to be kept away from the funerals.

Attending victims’ funerals and engaging in public displays of grief are not helping young people to realise the enormity of ending one’s own life, according to the woman, Anne.

Anne’s own son, Jamie, took his own life six years ago after an argument, but she said yesterday that it was an act committed in temper and that her son would not have wanted to end his life.
