Will Desperate Housewives fans lose out on RTÉ?

PROPOSALS by Communications Minister Eamon Ryan may force RTÉ to broadcast more “public service content” during primetime hours.

Such a revamp could see a substantial curtailment of populist shows such as Desperate Housewives, EastEnders and Lost between 6pm and 11pm.

But a sweeping change from giving viewers what they want to more high-brow programming could seriously hit the national broadcaster’s advertising revenue.
