School links up with institute
Secondary students in the VEC schools will get additional bonus points if they aim for certain courses offered at LIT which are under-subscribed.
Dr Maria Hinfelaar, director of LIT, said: “More and more students are coming to LIT from backgrounds other than the traditional Leaving Cert and they blend in very well.”
Dr Fergal Barry, head of development at LIT, said the new scheme will open exciting developments in previously untapped links between LIT and City of Limerick VEC.
Deirdre Frawley, head of Limerick City VEC, said: “It is a good example of how co-operation between adult education and higher education colleges can enhance the prospects of students accessing their course of choice at third level.”
Limerick VEC students will have to apply as normal through the CAO.
