TB testing lab to open one year after closure of old facility

A TB testing lab to serve Munster is due to open next month about a year after the old one was shut down.

Health managers were forced last March to suspend testing and close the old lab, housed in an ageing prefab on the grounds of Cork University Hospital, after “major deterioration in the condition of the building”.

The Health Service Executive admitted at the time that building work on a nearby CUH catering facility, combined with bad weather, were to blame.
