Being a mother ‘very difficult’

THREE-QUARTERS of Irish women find motherhood difficult — with one in five describing it as “very difficult”.

However, despite the ups and downs of parenting, up to 65% of mothers describe children as their “greatest source of joy”.

And while the national debate rumbles on about a supposed drop in the quality of life in this country, nine out of 10 mothers regard Ireland as a good place to raise children.
