DRUGS with an estimated street value of nearly €130,000 have been seized in a number of Garda raids in Limerick.

A woman, aged 25, is due in court after being stopped at Colbert railway station after getting off a train.

She was found to be carrying heroin worth about €60,000.

Two batches of cannabis worth €50,000 and €9,000 were found in searches in St Mary’s Park. A man in his 30s who was arrested was released after being questioned.

In Garryowen, cocaine worth €9,000 was discovered.

The Garda crackdown on drugs has intensified since a drugs unit was set up at Roxboro Garda Station.

The unit works with the divisional drugs squad based in Henry Street.

Gardaí have had a number of successes in recent weeks in their fight against drug pushers in Limerick.

Heroin with a street value of more than €100,000 was found during a raid on a house in Hyde Road, Ballinacura Weston, on February 12.

A small amount of cannabis was also found in the same house.

The previous week, cocaine worth €60,000 was found when houses in Hyde Road and O’Malley Park were targeted in Garda operations.

Last month, cannabis worth €75,000 was found in a house in the Dooradoyle areas.
