MAJOR delays at all three of the country’s main airports within weeks looked likely last night after talks between air traffic controllers and the Irish Aviation Authority to end an ongoing dispute broke up without agreement.

The battle over controller numbers has seen a number of flights delayed in the past week and last night talks at the Labour Relations Commission to end the dispute broke up without agreement.

The IMPACT trade union will today confirm whether it intends to push ahead with the threatened stoppages of up to 24 hours which it had hinted at if the matter was not resolved.
