Rare eagles found dead

TWO white-tailed sea eagles released in Killarney National Park as part of a nature conservation project last year are believed to have been poisoned.

The carcasses of the birds, found on land in the Glencar area west of the MacGillycuddy Reeks, were yesterday brought to the Veterinary Laboratory, Model Farm Road, Cork, where toxicology samples are to be analysed.

Samples are also being taken from the carcass of a sheep found about 10m from one of the birds.
