GREEN Party leader and Environment Minister John Gormley yesterday refused to express trust in Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.

It was a significant turn- around from comments he made at the beginning of the month and the Taoiseach’s legal challenge to the Mahon Tribunal may be a key reason why.

On February 3, Mr Gormley told RTÉ’s This Week programme: “I think the Taoiseach is tax compliant and that’s good enough for me… There has to be, I suppose, at some level a certain trust, and I think that trust is there in relation to the statements he has made.”
