THE Taoiseach’s office has told companies supplying it with products that they must have a tax clearance certificate — despite the fact Mr Ahern does not have one himself.

In a letter to suppliers, the Taoiseach’s office reminds them about their obligations to be tax compliant.

“Tax clearance requirements provide that a tax clearance certificate must be supplied by any supplier receiving €1,000 or more in payments from the Department [of the Taoiseach] in any year,” the letter from a finance officer states.
