‘Flying squad’ reports success in dumping battle

A DEDICATED rapid-response task force has more than halved the number of illegal dumping “hotspots” on Cork’s northside.

The three-man team, which worked with the Knocknaheeny/Hollyhill Environmental Partnership, has also reduced by almost half the amount of waste dumped illegally in the area.

The figures were presented to city councillors on Monday, who praised their success. It has prompted the roll-out of similar task-force teams in the Mayfield and Glen areas.
