HUMAN remains recovered in a woodland search by gardaí in Co Laois yesterday were thought to be those of an Englishman who has been missing since last April.

Plastering contractor Thomas ‘Tommy’ Thompson disappeared from his home in Co Laois nine months ago.

Gardaí investigating the whereabouts of the 59-year-old, who was originally from Yorkshire, confirmed they discovered a body at Dysart, Portlaoise, yesterday afternoon. The remains had been in a shallow grave.
