Call to set time limits

Call to set time limits

The call from the commissioner, Billy Hawkes, follows conflicting reports as to how the Department of Justice was going to implement an EU directive on data retention.

The directive sets a minimum retention period of six months and a maximum retention period of two years for all communications data, including phone, email and internet.
