Four questioned over gun murder of Limerick man

TWO women and two men were being questioned by gardaí in Limerick last night in connection with the murder of Gareth Grant in St Mary’s Park on October 8 last.

The father of three was shot dead after leaving his home at St Ita’s Street at about 10.15am.

Mr Grant, aged 25, died from a single bullet wound.

An armed Garda patrol was in the St Mary’s Park estate at the time of the shooting.

A dangerous feud gang are suspected of being involved in the shooting. Gardaí believe the gunman got sanctuary in a local house after the shooting.

Supt John Kerin, of Henry Street Garda Station, said they were extremely happy with the way the investigation is progressing. Supt Kerin said: “We believe we will be in a position to send a file to the DPP in the next couple of weeks, after which time we hope charges will be proffered.”

A total of 18 people have been arrested and questioned in connection with the murder of Mr Grant, 14 since the beginning of this month.

Those under arrest can be held for 72 hours. They are being questioned at Henry Street, Mayorstone and Roxboro Road garda stations.

The murder was carried out moments after Mr Grant left his home where he lived with his partner, Claire, and their children Rebecca, Gareth and Taylor.
