Man remanded in hotel murder case

Jerry McGrath, aged 23, of Ballywalter, Knockavilla, is charged with murdering Sylvia Roche Kelly, aged 33, a mother-of-two from Sixmilebridge, Co Clare, at the Clarion Hotel, Steamboat Quay, Limerick on December 8.

Ms Roche Kelly’s body was found in a bath in the hotel.

She had come to Limerick with family members and friends to celebrate her 33th birthday on the night she was last seen live.

Inspector Seamus Nolan sought a further remand in custody to the same court on February 13.

There was no objection to the State’s application and Judge Tom O’Donnell remanded the accused in custody.
