Government accused of ‘disgraceful neglect’ of mid-west

THE Government was yesterday accused of stalling a significant plan to revive the declining fortunes of industry and tourism in the mid-west.

Fine Gael’s Kieran O’Donnell pointed to the 2007 figures published by IDA and Fáilte Ireland and claimed they proved the Government guilty of “disgraceful neglect” of the region.

The Limerick East TD said: “Taken together, these two reviews make for very worrying reading for us in this region in terms of IDA jobs created and decline in overseas visitors.”
