€6m in grants for recycling

THE Government has announced a €6 million package for local authorities that operated recycling facilities.

Environment Minister John Gormley said the funding would offset the operational costs associated with recycling bring-banks and civic amenity facilities.

Mr Gormley said grant allocations would be based on a combination of weighted tonnage and net operating costs between January and June 2007.
