Millions still remain unclaimed in nursing home settlements

HUNDREDS of millions of euro in illegally charged nursing home fees remains unclaimed as a scheme to compensate those wrongly charged draws to a close.

Today is the last day for applications for compensation under the Health Repayment Scheme. But the latest figures show that more than half of those eligible for payments had not made claims by Christmas.

Just 33,500 of the 70,000 entitled to compensation made an application for repayment to the Health Service Executive.
