THREE out of 10 people aged over 65 are not availing of the free flu vaccination, despite warnings by the health authorities that the disease poses a serious health risk.

Research also shows that 59% of the same age group are failing to avail of a recommended vaccination against invasive pneumococcal disease.

The study also reveals that the vast majority of all adults at an increased risk of contracting either disease because of a chronic illness are not being vaccinated.
