THE GOVERNMENT’S top drug adviser yesterday said he was “alarmed” at reports of rising crack cocaine use from a leading drugs project in Dublin.

Dr Des Corrigan, chairman of the National Advisory Committee on Drugs, said it was vital the situation in relation to crack was closely monitored.

Dr Corrigan said the committee was in talks with the Government to establish a national drug monitoring system which would pick up trends, such as a rise in crack use.
