Comprehensive motor cover only €20 extra

MOTORISTS who opt for third-party fire and theft insurance could upgrade to comprehensive cover for as little as €20 extra, figures have revealed.

Drivers on a tight budget are among those who opt for third-party fire and theft cover, one of the cheapest and most basic forms of insurance required by law.

But a price survey by the Financial Regulator shows policies with comprehensive cover — which offers greater benefits — can cost as little as €20 more than a third-party fire and theft policy.
