Garda raid recovers €100,000 of company’s stolen property
They recovered what they described as a substantial amount of property which they believe was stolen in a raid on a courier company in Co Cork.
Detectives from the Cork North Garda Division, arrested the trio shortly after 6pm.
The men, described as ranging in age from their 30s to 50s, were arrested under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Under this legislation they can be kept in Garda custody for up to 24 hours without being charged.
The robbery occurred on October 31 last when a number of men entered the Securispeed Courier warehouse at Brooklodge East, Glanmire.
Detective Inspector Martin Dorney, who was leading the investigation, confirmed that three men had been arrested.
He said the arrests were the culmination of many hours of investigative work and that two of the men were being detained last night at Cobh Garda Station. The third man was being questioned in Midleton.
More than €100,000 worth of Elizabeth Arden perfume, Canterbury sportswear and Hewlett Packard computer equipment was stolen in the robbery.
The Canterbury sportswear consisted mainly of body warmers and ankle and wrist supports. The Hewlett Packard equipment was primarily made up of laptops, inkjet printers, and hard drive components.
At the time of the robbery gardaí believe that the goods were stolen in order to made a quick profit with sales on the Christmas market.
