Gardaí seek to stop second inquiry

TWO gardaí at the centre of a controversy in which a video of one of them dealing with a member of the public was posted on YouTube have brought High Court proceedings seeking to stop new disciplinary proceedings against them.

Gardaí Rudy Kelly and Gary Lee, of Balieborough Garda Station, Co Cavan, were involved in the incident in which Garda Kelly was filmed talking to a member of the public who had phoned the station to complain about boy racers near his home.

The High Court heard yesterday the two gardaí were told the penalty they faced would be relatively minor. They pleaded guilty at the disciplinary proceedings on this basis.
