‘More liaison officers needed’

AN EXTRA juvenile liaison officer is being drafted in to shore up the Garda community policing effort in Waterford, but a TD has said more are needed.

Trained to implement the force’s juvenile diversion programme, there are 93 liaison officers in Ireland.

A new officer is to be appointed in the near future for Waterford but Labour’s Brian O’Shea said more were needed both in the city and throughout Ireland.
