SCHOOL students are to be helped prepare for the driver theory test and learn vital road safety issues.

Schools to get pilot scheme on road safety

The pilot transition year road safety programme has been developed by the Road Safety Authority and the Department of Education with input from gardaí, national car test centres and Bus Éireann.

The road training programme is already available in a number of secondary schools and is planned to be extended across the country next year.
