AN international survey has revealed that a fifth of women over 50 years say their sex lives are even more important now than when they were younger, and many lead lives as active as their daughters or even their grand-daughters.

However, the survey also found that, while 75% of the women said their overall appearance was important to them and spent more than 10 minutes a day on their beauty regime, only 12% spend the time to properly follow their doctor’s instructions when taking medication for their brittle bones.

One in three women over 50 suffer osteoporotic fractures as their bones become porous and break easily yet Irish women are the most likely to stop taking treatments which prevent osteoporosis.
