Rise in unruly behaviour at schools

STAFF at a number of special schools are being subjected to increased levels of “challenging behaviour”, according to Department of Education inspection reports.

Concern has been expressed by staff and management of certain schools, the reports confirm, while “anger management” sessions were recommended for some pupils at Cootehill Youth-reach in Co Cavan.

In all, 102 inspection reports were published yesterday on the department’s website, in line with a policy implemented in February last year.
