Ahern: FG dragging politics into gutter

BERTIE Ahern last night angrily accused Fine Gael of dragging Irish politics into the gutter with highly personal attacks on him.

The Taoiseach singled out newly elected opposition TDs for low strikes during the tense “no confidence” Dáil debate on the Government in which one TD branded him “a liar”.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny accused Mr Ahern of creating a “fictitious” story regarding the Manchester “whip-around” in which the Taoiseach says he was given £8,000 while Finance Minister.
