CORK City Council has decided to scrap a controversial policy which denied on-street parking permits to hundreds of apartment dwellers.

City residents to be allowed to reapply for parking permits

The city confirmed yesterday that from this week, people living in apartments who had permits before March 2004, but who were refused renewals after the introduction of the policy that month, will be able to reapply for the permits.

The move will benefit several hundred people living in purpose-built apartments who were denied permits under the new policy.
