RTÉ’s big beasts fight back in battle for listeners

RTÉ stars are fighting back in the battle for radio listeners, although their main rivals, Today FM and Newstalk, continue to perform strongly.

The latest Joint National Listenership Research figures show the most popular RTÉ broadcasters appear to have halted the fall-off in audiences that has affected the national station in recent years.

The results are likely to come as a welcome relief for RTÉ bosses after several changes to radio schedules were introduced last autumn to reverse an unbroken series of declining audiences for the previous year.
