Former Boyzone star gets grand reception

HE WAS a boyband heart throb, a reckless rally driver and a reluctant reality TV star but — sorry girls — he is officially off the market.

Yesterday, former Boyzone band member Shane Lynch celebrated his marriage at a lavish €500,000 reception in Kinnitty Castle, Co Offaly.

He and his long-term girlfriend Sheena White had already tied the knot at a secret civil ceremony in Kent, England, a fortnight ago.

The couple landed a €200,000 exclusive photograph deal with OK magazine. Lynch said this was not a money-making exercise but to stop rogue photographers spoiling his big day.

Last year, his sister Edel Lynch almost had a similar exclusive deal stymied when a photograph of her at the altar was put on general release without permission.

This is the second time down the aisle for Lynch. His first marriage was to Eternal singer Easther Bennett but they divorced in 2000.

The former pop star has been very public in his affections of his new wife after walking off the set of Celebrity Love Island in 2006 to be with her.

At the same time his sister Edel was celebrating her marriage, also in the lavish Kinnitty Castle.

While pictures of the event are under lock and key, RTÉ viewers will get the chance to see all the action behind the scenes.

The couple’s two big days will form the basis for a three-part documentary, which will be aired for the first time in September.

RTÉ has said it will be an eye-opener.

“It promises to be a must-see observational documentary series for Tuesday nights in September with all the glamour, drama and glitz of a showbiz nuptial bash. As Boyzone might sing, ‘It’s gonna be so good’,” a statement said.
