FOREIGN Affairs Minister Dermot Ahern has denied the Government had any advance knowledge of the Aer Lingus decision or that it formed part of any power-sharing deal with the North.

“There were no discussions with the Irish Government, me, my department or any officials by Aer Lingus in relation to any decision.

“Obviously we would welcome if companies adopt an all-island business approach. It is disappointing that Shannon has suffered, but efforts to look at new airline routes are obviously the way to go.
