Cause of spillage in lake probed

AN INVESTIGATION is under way to discover the source of a spillage in Lough Derg in Co Tipperary.

The alarm was raised last night after locals noticed a smell at the waterfront in the village of Ballina.

An emergency response unit from North Tipperary Co Council, consisting of specialist fire personnel and engineers along with a local coastguard unit from nearby Killaloe, are inspecting the area where the spillage happened.
