THE Government will introduce laws within the next two years to “erase” convictions for certain minor offences.

Justice Minister Brian Lenihan said he was committed to bringing in legislation to implement the proposal, recommended in a new report by the Law Reform Commission (LRC),

The report, details of which were published in yesterday’s Irish Examiner, said a limited spent convictions law for adults should be introduced for old convictions of a minor nature.
