Parents get tasty guide for children
The booklet features information on child-friendly hotels and restaurants, as well as a range of fun activities and summer camps taking place around Ireland this summer.
TV presenter Lorraine Keane, a mum-of-two, was on hand yesterday to officially launch the SMA Choices booklet.
“It is sometimes challenging to find child- friendly restaurants and hotels in Ireland, where parents can feel comfortable bringing their children. Therefore, we have collated a list of recommended places from around the country to help you select a suitable child- friendly destination,” said Ms Keane.
Áine Waldron, nutritionist with SMA baby food manufacturer, explained that even though children are off school, it is important not to forget about the importance of a healthy diet.
“In many restaurants, the children’s menu can be quite limited and can make it difficult to choose nutritious options for your little ones. The choices are often chicken nuggets, sausages, fish fingers and burgers, which should not be a regular part of your child’s diet. If you are bringing your children to a restaurant, it should be an experience for them and an opportunity to try new tastes and textures.”
The hotels section of the guide includes a list of hotels around Ireland which make a particular effort to welcome children. It also gives ratings on cost from budget to luxury so parents can decide where falls within their budget.
