Ireland near top of the league for gas prices in Europe

GAS prices here are among the most expensive in Europe, according to a new EU survey.

The latest comparison of the cost of gas for consumers in the EU based on prices on January 1, 2007, show Irish gas prices are now the sixth most expensive in Europe at €16.73 a gigajoule.

Ireland was just the 12th most expensive EU state for gas just a year earlier.
