Hanafin injects extra €32m into language support teachers

AN EXTRA €32 million a year has been pledged by Education Minister Mary Hanafin to provide a further 550 language support teachers by 2009.

The first 200 of these will be employed this year.

Children from foreign families living here are to face an English test to assess the level of support their schools need to help improve their language skills.
