Sunday morning will be a little different...
The compromise seems more than a little stark.
Yet the guile which both have shown in their respective professions shows that while they are cut from different cloth — the finest silk compared to a more practical, weathered and durable leather — they have both skilfully ensured their coats are made to measure.
From June 17 to July 20 the former Kerry footballer, presently Clare manager, will be filling in for the senator and former Trinity lecturer, presenting his Sunday morning interview show on Newstalk.
Mr Norris will return after the senate elections.
The show under Mr O’Sé’s tenure will be in the usual format with guests picking three pieces of their favourite music and talking candidly about their lives.
It seems hard to imagine the chat between Mr Ó Sé and two of his rostered guests, Dana and Twink, though with Dana at least he can expect a lively debate on the finer points of Derry’s footballers and he and Twink can compare notes on unsavoury outbursts.
However, he should be on more familiar territory with GAA legend DJ Carey and sporting icon John Tracey.
Let’s just hope the presenter and Carey, in a fit of male competitiveness, don’t decide to wear their all Ireland winning medals in the studio — that much loose metal in one room is bound to mess with the reception.
