THE make-up of the next government will hang in the balance until late tomorrow night even if Fianna Fáil and the Green Party finally agree a deal today.

The Greens are obliged to put any such deal to its membership at a specially-arranged conference. Should both sides reach agreement today, the Greens will call that conference for tomorrow night.

Only if two-thirds of those present approve the agreement will Green leader Trevor Sargent be able to sign off on the government formation deal.
