THE Road Safety Authority has dismissed a European report which places Ireland near the bottom of the table of nations that have cut the number of road deaths as “out of date and very one-sided”.

The study, carried out by the European Transport Safety Council, examined the road safety record of 27 EU countries between 2001 and 2005.

The report revealed Ireland had only managed a 3.2% cut in fatalities compared to a 35% decrease in France.
