SOLAR lighting, rainwater collection and even thermal energy production are set to feature at new recycling centres planned in west Cork.

Details of a ‘green policy’ were revealed yesterday by Cork County Council’s senior executive officer for the region, Jerome O’Sullivan.

He told councillors at a Western Committee meeting in Clonakilty that ambitious plans had been drawn up to create large waste recycling transfer stations at Derryconnell near Schull, Bantry, Dunmanway and Skibbereen which would cost in the region of €7 million to complete.
