CONSUMERS in a rural community in Limerick were yesterday permitted to use drinking water, again, after the county council lifted a boil notice.

The alert notice, introduced a number of weeks ago, had applied to the water supply for Ballingarry village and surrounding area. Several thousand people had been affected.

The notice was issued on March 30 after excessive nitrate levels were discovered.
