FIANNA FÁIL’S new pensions savings scheme would blow a hole of half a billion euro in its budgetary policies and plunge the State finances into debt, Fine Gael claimed yesterday.

Following days of having its economic plans derided by senior FF minister, FG’s deputy leader Richard Bruton hit back yesterday with a scathing attack on the new SSIA-type pension plan unveiled yesterday.

The savings-incentive was the centrepiece of Fianna Fáil’s pension policy announced by Social Affairs Minister Seamus Brennan.
